I'm afraid Silverware has left the PK community due to the facts exposed in the thread you linked...

hm... looks like he only got pissed, but there weren't any issues about the translation itself only about the calendar... or at least thats what my italian friend tells me. where there any issues about the translation or was it only because of the calendar? because if it was only because of the calendar, then someone could re-translate the comics(why re-translate? because the few translations i saw where good enough to read, but had many really bad errors, especialy grammar-errors and lack of commonly used sentences and phrases[i.E.: "Reinforcment is on the way!" when the cops come and help PK. a better sentence would have been "Don't worry PK, we gonna help you!", because reinforcments normaly are a military term, meaning that new troops are on there way.], which could have been done much better.). I would like to help do so, IF there weren't any legal-issues(it's a grey area anyway...) except with the calendar(And i don't think anybody would supply me with the needed scans then. Or would you? ;)).

The legal issue was only for the calendar.

Yes, the legal suit concerning Silverware was only about the calendar. However, I wouldn't say "he only got pissed", because we haven't heard from him after he got in trouble with Disney. For the last year and a half he's only kept in touch with his very best friends, I guess...

Do you have the program eMule? Try looking for "Paperinik New Adventures"...You can find some of the first issues of PKNA entirely scanned. ;)

hm... i'll look around, but that can take a while since 1. eMule is sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo(add aditional 10^24 os here)w, and 2. it causes a ton of traffic and i have a transfer limit of 10 GB. -_- hmm... *idea* maybe it's around on DC++. *evilgrin*

sin (NO, not the english word for... well sin, it's just a shortcut for my nickname in that case. ;))

P.S.:

Does anybody know where to get scans of M.M.M.M.? I'd like to try translating them too, since it's same style and also seems to be a bit more 'aggro' then the normal disney comics. ;)

Got the Scans of 0-1 till 0-3, working on re-trans of 0-1. As i was asumming, the first translation had some errors. Dunno how long it will take since my PC likes to crash when i have Photoshop running, and my friend is a student. But i hope to be done with it in a Week.

btw., does anybody know(or has a guess) which FONT is used in the Speciale Parts of PKNA(YES i am going to translate them too.).

Also, even though some of you might think it would be nice, i will use other names(Mostly from the german original translation by Egmont-Ehapa.) since the italian names sound good... But only in italian.

Serpentine is the main font they use, is that the one?
Otherwise, do you have a specific example you can show us?

Well, the important thing is that you don't translate "Uno" as "Globus" but as "One"... i think it sounds WAY better.

iirc Uno WAS translated as One, and in the german Egmont-Ehapa version as "Eins", which is german for Uno/One/etc.

and for the example, here, the font used in this text(and other, the specials) i mean. what font they use for the comic speechbubbles would help to, but i could just use Comic Sans MS for that if needed:

Because it would look realy shitty if i wouldn't use the original font(or something close to it) for that. >_>

Oh, and i just noticed: I don't have any font that is called Serpentine, does anybody know where to get it? o_O

The "A" in that image is Serpentine. I have no idea about the rest, though... :(

For the lettering in the comic you can find some useful fonts at www.blambot.com.

Heh, here in Norway we had "Glupus" and "Slupus" instead of "One and "Two". They were cute names, but I think One and Two sound more machine-like and cool.

Makes me wonder...Do their Norwegian names have a meaning?

Yes!

Glupus = Glup "Smart" | Slupus = Sleip "smooth-spoken"

Hi there. I am also a German native speaker and I study English, including some background in translation. If you or anyone else can come up with scans, I would be very glad to help. Hell, I would even translate them from Italian myself if need be. I just need the scans. Then we could think about getting a team together in order to proof-/crossread the texts + get someone to do the setting.

best regards,

Sorry for the failed quote, can anyone tell me how to amend it?
